The Alameda Unified School District (AUSD) has named Tracy Corbally, an English teacher at Alameda Science and Technology Institute (ASTI), as the district’s Teacher of the Year for 2012-13. ASTI is the district’s early college high school magnet school on the College of Alameda campus. Corbally has been teaching at ASTI since August 2008 and she is a graduate of Brandman’s Walnut Creek campus with a master’s in educational leadership.
The district will formally recognize Corbally at the May 28 Board of Education meeting. The board will also recognize finalists Andrea Hardman and Marc Jaeger from Otis Elementary School and Michael Lamb from Alameda High School.
This is not the first time Corbally has been recognized for her talents. In September 2006, when Corbally was teaching at Castlemont High School in Oakland, 826 Valencia, a nonprofit organization founded by writer David Eggers, recognized her as Teacher of the Month for her success and hard work.
She will compete to become Alameda County’s Teacher of the Year. In October the Alameda County Office of Education will recognize her at its annual ceremony for teachers of the year from all school districts in the county.
