Brandman University on Joint Base Lewis McChord, WA recognized SSG Sylvester Clark as this year’s Soldier Scholar. Though currently serving on active duty, SSG Clark has served in the Army Reserve as well, with a grand total of 28 years of military service. He has performed in various military positions, to include cryptographic repair specialist, drill sergeant, platoon, non-commissioned officer in charge in the emergency room, Madigan Army Medical Center, and acting First Sergeant. Currently SSG Clark, works as the sergeant in charge of assisting soldiers in receiving medical treatment for multiple combat-related injuries, Wounded Warrior Battalion.
SSG Clark is currently working on his undergraduate degree in Organizational Leadership. In addition to being a soldier, SSG Clark has been married to Cathy Clark for over 30 years, and they have two daughters, Serna and Selese. In his spare time he enjoys bowling, and has competed in four half-marathons, with the intention of running his first full 26-mile marathon this month in Seattle.
